Sponsored Bike Ride - Sensory Garden
Bengeworth Academy is a genuinely outstanding local school. They always try and give their children the best possible start in life. Currently, they have a project to develop the outside space at the Kings Road setting to provide a sensory garden for all pupils to learn, enjoy and develop an accessible love of nature.
But there’s a problem
Money. Over the past few years the Academy has been systematically underfunded during its expansion and the latest government Fairer Funding formula has resulted in a drop in income of over £70,000 this year. This is a massive cut and when added to the extra cost of (a well deserved) increase in teachers pay means that a number of beneficial projects have had to be deferred or cancelled.
Here’s what we’re doing about it
George and Freddie have decided they want to help and do their bit by raising some money by asking for sponsorship of their 100-mile cross Devon bike riding challenge.
The challenge will take place over the August bank holiday weekend and will see them carrying everything they need for the trip and cycling from Plymouth to Illfracombe staying in hostels along the way.
They have a fundraising target that will help the school to build the sensory garden which has been designed in conjunction with the Year 3s.
You can join us
George and Freddie would love to raise £2,000, but obviously, anything raised will be a help and benefit all children at the Academy.
Any eligible donations will also qualify for gift aid.
If you are a local business the school would be happy to promote your name in our newsletter to thank you for your sponsorship.
